9. What do I do in everyday situations?
What do I do in everyday situations?
Our principles take practical form in ordinary moments: accepting work, hearing criticism, helping someone or facing a setback.
Drawing from the Thirukkural, here are eight ways to turn intention into action:
Before accepting work
Check the resources, tools, timing, task and setting. Understand what delivery will require.
Before a major commitment
Examine the path to completion, likely obstacles and expected benefit.
After learning something
Put it into practice through one concrete action.
When receiving advice
Examine the substance of the advice and the adviser’s relevant experience.
When an opportunity promises profit through harm
Decline the harmful means. Seek a course consistent with your values.
When helping someone
Respond to what they need without making repayment a condition.
When criticized
Assess the criticism fairly. Where it identifies a real fault, make a specific correction.
When discouraged
Regain composure, identify the next useful action and continue with informed effort.
At Aravor, we see these everyday moments as opportunities to practise a meaningful life.
Let each situation become a chance to put your values into action.
