The pillars of human conduct #983

In Thirukkural, Sandranmai (சான்றாண்மை) refers to the state of being a virtuous, complete, and wise human being —
not just intelligent or educated, but one whose mind, heart, and actions are aligned with moral truth.

These five qualities or pillars form the moral anatomy of Saandror, a truly evolved person:

  1. Kindness (அன்பு) – the compassion that connects all life.
  2. Conscience (தவறு செய்ய முற்படும் பொழுது ஏற்படும் உறுத்தல்) – the inner shame that prevents wrongdoing.
  3. Social Welfare (ஒப்புரவு) – the spirit of unity, service, and responsibility to society.
  4. Empathy (பரிவு) – the ability to feel what others feel.
  5. Honesty (வாய்மை) – truthfulness in word, thought, and deed.

Together, they form the moral architecture of a Sandror (சான்றோர்) —
one who lives not just for self, but for righteousness and the good of all.
