Do it only if you can Impact #236

Approach every endeavor with the intent to create meaningful impact — one that builds lasting value and a reputation grounded in virtue. If you cannot commit to such excellence, it is better to withdraw than to pursue mediocrity.

Approach each endeavor with the intention of creating meaningful impact or be prepared to abandon it if you cannot commit to excellence. #236

Imagine a farmer planting a mango tree. If he takes care of the tree well—watering it, protecting it from pests, and giving it enough sunlight—the tree will grow strong and give delicious mangoes for many years. People will remember him for the tasty fruit and the shade the tree provides. But if he plants the tree and then ignores it, the tree will not grow well, and no one will remember him.

This example shows that like the farmer’s care, we should put our best effort into everything we do so that our work leaves a positive impression and long-lasting value. If we cannot do that, it is better not to start at all.
